Parades...

We've read this book to Evan a couple times, and lately he's been really into making parades with his cars and trucks...
"Parade" by Donald Crews

This was one of Evan's first parades, it stretched from
the foyer into the living room.

And this one spiraled around the inside of his tent... too cute. Notice, he added animls to this parade.

More sunny (and hot!) day fun

We were both home with Evan on Friday and despite the heat, had a fun-packed day.  We started with some breakfast with friends, then the Children's Museum, followed by a much-needed nap.  And finally  some swim time at one of the local pools.  He had a great time and was asleep almost before his head hit the pillow last night.  Now it's finally cooling off a bit here so we hope to enjoy more outdoor time this weekend.  Hope you all can too!

Here's a VIDEO of the little guy singing his ABC's... sort of.

Evan built this Duplo "boat" all by himself,
and even put all the people on top.

To get out of the heat, we went to the Children's Museum.
Evan is making lunch for Mommy and Daddy.

We found a slide

Evan gathered up all these stuffed animals and had an agenda

He brought them to this "log tunnel" and snuggled with them

Another satisfied museum customer (we were less than 5 minutes out of the parking ramp)

Later we hit the Wabun Splash Pad & Pool

Happy 4th of July!

We hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July!  It was incredibly hot here so we had to adjust our plans to keep the little guy cool.  He overheats sooooo fast, so we tried to get out early and then enjoyed longer breaks of AC the rest of the day.  We tried to keep it fun inside and spent time running through the sprinkler in the afternoon, so all in all, I think he had a great 4th!

Early morning at St. Anthony Main to watch Aunt Toby run a race.    Evan was decked out in his festive accessories from the kiddy parade earlier in the week.

Eating some breakfast at the race.

Around 11:00 am, Evan crawled up on Jake and was acting like he wanted to snuggle.  Then I looked over and realized he had fallen asleep.  We can't remember the last time this happened, so I had to snap a picture.  He slept for 2 1/2 hours so it wasn't just a fluke!

Turning up the heat

It was ridiculously hot here today, especially after enjoying some relatively cool weather in the UP of Michigan this weekend for a friend's wedding.  Evan went to his first wedding - well, he went to the reception - we chose naptime over the ceremony for him.  He LOVED being at the ski resort where the wedding was held.  He kept Jake and I on our toes the entire party, running up the hills and looking for the moon.  Did not love the bounce house.  I think he was in there a total of 30 seconds.  But he found ways to keep busy...

Then today, when it was too hot to do anything, Evan participated in a kiddy parade for a 4th of July festival near by.  Evan's buddy Alvin rode his Strider bike and we decked out Evan's stroller (instead of the wagon so he could have shade) - but in the end Evan wanted to walk.  As he turned more and more red, we had to shed layers, douse his head with water, and walk through an open fire hydrant to cool off.  I tried to show the progression of the evening below.  After the car ride, we stopped for dinner out, and once he cooled off, he was back to his crazy self.
Hooray for central air.

Scoping out the bounce house at the wedding

Trying to figure out how the dance floor showed up in the middle of the tent, in the grass!

Doing his best dance move - sprint from side to side laughing!

We kept trying to find shade during the line up.  Evan had a patriotic lei to wear, but in the end he shed it.

Evan on the left, Alvin on the right (33).

Check out Alvin's patriotic bike.

Shirtless.  And you can't tell in the picture, but both boys had their nails painted by the high school girl's basketball team.

AC blasting in the car - now you can see his painted nails.  Daddy hasn't seen them yet....
